Dr Sarah Flynn, Dermatologist in Training BExSc, MPod, MD, FACD

Dr Sarah Flynn grew up in Ballarat and began her career with a Bachelor of Exercise Science (2010), followed by a Master of Podiatry (2013).

Early in her career, she provided podiatry services in remote Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley, Western Australia, and later established and ran her own podiatry business in Sydney.

Sarah went on to complete her Doctor of Medicine (MD) at The University of Notre Dame, Sydney (2017), where she was recognised as the medical student who best embodied the mission and values of the university. She then returned to Ballarat to undertake her medical internship before commencing her specialist dermatology training.

Her dermatology training has been extensive, with experience at some of Australia’s leading hospitals and health centres, including The Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, Austin Health, The Royal Children’s Hospital, The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and the Skin Health Institute. She has also conducted dermatology clinics at Mercy Health, Eastern Health, and Northern Health. In addition, Sarah completed the Sydney Child Health Program and worked in Ballarat throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr Flynn has been awarded multiple scholarships and Social Justice awards in recognition of her commitment to both domestic and international humanitarian medical work, as well as her strong advocacy for rural health.

She is currently completing her specialist dermatology training with the Australasian College of Dermatologists, under the supervision of Dr Alana Tuxen.
