Dr Charmaine Chamberlin, Dermatologist BSc, MD, FACD
Dr. Charmaine Chamberlin is an international and Australian trained dermatologist and fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. She has an interest in non-invasive skin imaging, early detection of skin cancer and melanoma, and Oncodermatology.
Charmaine finished a Bachelor of Nursing then took up a Doctor of Medicine postgraduate degree at The University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, graduating with distinction in 2014. She completed her specialist training and was fully qualified as a dermatologist by the Philippine Dermatological Society in 2020.
After practicing for a few years, she moved to Australia to further subspecialize in the field of oncodermatology and complex medical dermatology at Westmead Hospital in Western Sydney. This was then complemented by a second fellowship on pigmented skin lesions, non-invasive skin imaging, and confocal microscopy at the Melanoma Institute Australia. As both institutions are affiliated with the University of Sydney, Charmaine was able to participate in research projects for melanoma, skin imaging, confocal microscopy, artificial intelligence, and the skin effects of cancer treatment. She also engages in teaching activities for medical students, junior doctors, and other specialties interested in skin. However, she gains the most joy from clinical practice and interacting with patients.
Upon completing her fellowships and undergoing specialist recognition, Charmaine further honed her expertise in dermatology through training at the Victorian Melanoma Service, Alfred Hospital, Melbourne and in Gentle Dermatology Ballarat where she remains in private practice to provide dermatological care patients in the regional setting.
Charmaine now lives in Ballarat with her husband and looks forward to building a life here and being of service to the community and surrounding Grampians areas for years to come.
